Atlético have more character than Real, says Capello

Fabio Capello has had two separate spells as coach of Real Madrid but, despite his Bernabéu past, he was by no means backing Los Blancos to the hilt as he looked ahead to the Champions League final.

Ten-time European Cup winners Real - a club Capello led to the LaLiga title in each of his single-season stints as boss - take on city rivals Atlético Madrid at the San Siro on Saturday evening.

"In terms of character, Atlético are ahead"

Discussing the clash, the one-time England manager said: "Real Madrid were one of my favourites for the trophy. But, in terms of character, Atlético are slightly ahead of their opponents".

And the Italian praised Atlético coach Diego Simeone: "He's a leader and the players follow him. He's doing an exceptional job, despite players being sold".

He also spoke highly of Simeone's opposite number in Milan: "I think [Zinedine] Zidane has the charisma to get what he has to across to the players. They listen to him more than other coaches."
