Cristiano Ronaldo is recharging the batteries on the island of Ibiza before he joins up with Portugal over the weekend to begin Euro 2016 preparations. Still savouring the sweet taste of Undécima glory, sweeter perhaps than any other as he silenced critics who said he was finished earlier in the season. Ronaldo was key to the 11th European crown, scoring the hat-trick that brought los blancos back from the dead against Wolfsburg and of course, taking the winning penalty in the final, Cristiano was key to the victory over their city rivals in the end.
AS managed to speak with with the star: "I'm super-happy that we won the Undécima and now I'm thinking about the Euros. We want to bring a little happiness to the Portuguese people, they deseve it".
Ronaldo also took the opportunity to reassure madridismo about his future at the blanco behemoth, saying he wants to retire wearing the camisa blanca:
"I'm going to retire at Real Madrid at 40-something. I'm very happy here, I've worked hard to be where I am".
Ronaldo's agent along with the player have been hammering out a contract extension with the club, his current deal set to run its course in 2018. The converstation has reached an advanced stage, and Ronaldo had a little wink to his permanence during the spectacular celebrations at the Bernabéu: "This white jersey looks so fucking good on me".
Cristiano also took the opportunity to send his best wishes to his friend Nuno Espiritu Santo who is officially the new captain of the ship at Porto. "Nuno's a great manager", said CR7, "In the best league in the world he beat the points record in the history of Valencia (77), that says it all about him. He did a brilliant job, he's young and has a bright future ahead". A little bit like the Madrid no.7 himself, who only sees himself in white for as long as is left.
