Morata: "The Juve defenders have told me to wear a helmet"

Álvaro Morata spoke to Spanish TV station Cuatro on Saturday lunchtime as his discussed the mood in the Spain camp and his side's last 16 tie against Italy.

Good vibrations: “If you could put a camera in the hotel you’d see what a good atmosphere there is. We hold back a bit in training because of the cameras that are around”.

Controversies: “When things are going well you have to stop rocking the boat. There are things we laugh about, the number of controversies that are made up. We always laugh about the stuff with Piqué. Piqué always does that; it’s not a problem. It’s an anecdote. If we’re united we’re going to be more dangerous”.

Top scorer at the Euros: “I feel good and for me being here is amazing. I was going to Colón (Madrid) with my friends when Spain won and now I’m here. It’s a long tournament, and what happened against Croatia happens in football. The rival doesn’t matter, we’re where we want to be”.

Goals: “The header meant a lot. It was my first goal and I needed it. The other ones were down to my team-mates”.

Italian defenders: “I’ve spoken to them and some have told me to wear a helmet if I play. They’re the reason for the success at Juventus in recent years. The way they play is characteristic of Italy, but we have to focus on our game”.

De Gea: “For me David is in good form, as always. It’s a difficult time for him, but we’ve been encouraging him and he’s one of the best keepers around. The Croatia game is behind us now. We could’ve won but we’re not living in the past. If you want to win the Euros you have to win all your games, no matter who you’re up against”.
