Update:

Colombia produced one of the most convincing performances of the 2026 World Cup so far, defeating Uzbekistan 3-1 in Los Angeles. Luis Díaz opened the scoring before Daniel Muñoz and Jáminton Campaz added second-half goals to give Los Cafeteros a deserved victory. The result extended Colombia’s impressive unbeaten run and immediately put Néstor Lorenzo’s side in control of the group.

Earlier in the day, Portugal stumbled to a frustrating 1-1 draw against DR Congo in Houston. João Neves gave the Europeans an early lead, but Yoane Wissa equalized before halftime and the African side held firm to claim a valuable point. For a Portugal team that entered the tournament among the favorites, it was hardly the ideal start.

The second round of fixtures could be pivotal. Portugal cannot afford another slip up when it meets Uzbekistan, while Colombia has the opportunity to take a giant step toward the round of 32 against DR Congo.
