There were great expectations in Pep's first press conference as Manchester City manager, as he spoke to a packed press room about his ambitions, the team he's put together and Jose Mourinho.

Vision

“I just arrived 10 days ago and we are going to try and do our best for our people, our fans and our players and make everyone proud. I want them to be proud of what we do and what they see".

"Hopefully we'll play well, win games & people will be happy with us. I have big expectations and hope things go as well as possible."

Transfers and the challenge of the Premier League

“We want to improve the squad a little bit but we will see. I am here to prove myself. It would have been comfortable to stay where I was but I feel this is the right moment to move here.

I know how difficult it is in England to win four five or six games in a row so that is our challenge. Maybe we’re not going to win every game but we are going to try and we will do our best.

This is a challenge, but that’s why I’m here – to prove you can play the sort of football I like my teams to play and be successful in the Premier League.

“It would have been comfortable to stay where I was but I feel this is the right moment to move here."

Manchester and the CFA (City Football Academy)

"This place is amazing. The best place for young players to improve skills. Whether we play good or bad it won't be the facilities.

At Barca we had the best player ever and all the players who grew up from the academy and Bayern we had fantastic players as well."

Vincent Kompany

"My dream for Vincent Kompany is to be fit. In the last two years he hasn't played many games. He's a magnificent central defender."

His technical team

"I think it'll be more physical here. People say it's less attractive but I don't know. I'll talk to Brian Kidd and Arteta to learn more.

"Kidd is helping me get to know the players. Arteta is one of the best midfielders there's been and he knows English football."

How is Pep's City going to play?

"What I want is simple. I want to get the ball back as soon as possible. When we have the ball, to create chances. So simple."

Great managers in the Premier League

"I think it's great top managers are here in England. Big managers take me to another level - they push me to achieve things."
