Odegaard deal in place

Now that the summer transfer window is closed, Martin Odegaard's future, in the short-term at least, remains at Real Madrid. The club he looked most like joining in August was Rennes and the French outfit are already targeting January - when the window opens again - to see if a loan deal can be agreed.

According to sources within the club, they already have an agreement in place with the European champions for the move to happen at the start of the new year by which point the young Norweigen will have turned 18, his birthday being December 18.

Bernabéu whistler

David Fernández Borbalán has been confirmed as the man in charge of Madrid's next league game as they welcome newly promoted Osasuna to the Bernabéu on Saturday 10 September. He has already taken charge of 31 games involving Los Blancos in which they have been victorious 19 times, with the other 12 games split equally between draws and losses.

In games that the 39 year old entrepreneur officiated with Osasuna, the Pamplona-based side have won six, drawn three and lost nine. Fernández started his Liga career 12 years ago this month in the middle of Levante against racing Santander.

Weekend off

Zidane finished off the week's training on Friday and has given the squad - those that are not away on international duty - two days to rest. They will reconvene on Monday at 17:00 to start the final preparations for Saturday's game against Osasuna when fans will be hoping to see the return of some of their big stars.
