Zidane has faith in his squad
The Real Madrid coach has used 21 of the 24 players available to him so far this season. Just the injured Keylor Navas and Fabio Coentrao along with third-string goalkeeper Rubén Yáñez are yet to feature.
Everyone agrees: the squad at Real Madrid is so deep that the team is in a prime position to challenge on all fronts this season.
Zidane has a deep squad at his disposal
Zidane knows full what he can get from such a deep and quality squad. To be able to rotate and still put out a strong, almost ‘full-strength’ side is a luxury afforded to very few and it will bear fruits as the long season progresses.
21 of the 24 players have played this season
Just three matches into the new LaLiga season, Zidane has already used 21 of the 24 players in his squad. Just the injured Keylor Navas and Fabio Coentrao, along with third-choice keeper Rubén Yáñez, are yet to play. And the results of this approach? Three wins, top of LaLiga and 10 goals.
At the same point last season, then-coach Rafa Benítez had used 17 of the 23 players in his squad, with Pepe, Arbeloa and Nacho among those still unused.
Sergio Ramos and Casilla, the only ever-present players
Zidane is clearly spreading out playing time among his players. Only two have been ever-present: captain Sergio Ramos and goalkeeper Kiko Casilla. At this stage last season the ever-presents numbered six: Keylor, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo, Bale and Cristiano.
