Mourinho slams referee after third Man Utd defeat in a row
Manchester United's Portuguese coach blamed the referee's mistakes for the defeat to Watford on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.
Mourinho blames referee for Watford defeat
Jose Mourinho slammed the referee after his Manchester United side slumped to a 3-1 defeat by Watford in the Premier League.
The Portuguese coach directly blamed the official for missing a foul on Martial in Watford's opening goal, saying there was no debate or controversy about the mistake, as it was a clear and obvious foul. Mourinho said the same situation as had occurred against Manchester City had been repeated.
Mourinho: "I can't control their mistakes"
While Mourinho accepted the first factor in the defeat was Manchester United's performance, and their "individual and collective mistakes", he was quick to say the second factor was "the referee", saying he couldn't "control their mistakes", going on to claim that Watford's first goal had come about from a "ridiculous situation".
Mourinho also lamented the fact he isn't allowed to criticise the referees.
The final factor for Mourinho in their defeat was a lack of luck, saying Man Utd hadn't had any. He also insisted his Man Utd side had been better than Watford and that Watford's keeper had "made a phenomenal save from an Ibrahimovic header".
