Bale, who played a key role for the Welsh in their stunning run to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 this summer, joined Real from Tottenham Hotspur in September 2013 in what was then a world-record deal.

Real twice continental champs with Bale

The 27-year-old has helped Real to two European Cup triumphs since moving to the Bernabéu, and Chris Coleman reckons that alone justifies his price tag.

"I think if you rewind before he goes to Real Madrid and say he's going to win two Champions Leagues in three years, he's already paid the fee back that they paid," said Coleman.

Brought up half century in LaLiga on Sunday

Bale grabbed his 50th LaLiga goal for Los Blancos in their weekend draw with Eibar, taking his overall tally to 61 in 131 appearances for the Spanish capital club.
