Real Madrid still unbeaten this season
Real Madrid continued their early-season resurgence with a 4-1 LaLiga win over Alavés this weekend and in the process preserved their status as the only team from Europe’s top 5 leagues to remain unbeaten in all competitions.
Zidane’s side have played in four different competitions: the European Super Cup (1 win), LaLiga (7 wins and 3 draws), the Champions League (2 wins, 1 draw) and the Copa del Rey (1 win). In total they’ve played 15 games, winning 11 and drawing 4.
Spain – LaLiga
Until this weekend Villarreal were also unbeaten in the league but their 2-1 loss at Eibar coupled with their early season Champions League loss to Monaco puts them out of the running. Real Madrid are the only team in the Spanish top flight yet to taste defeat this season.
England - Premier League
Tottenhama are the only team yet to lose in the league this season but Pochettino’s men were beaten 2-1 at ‘home’ (Wembley) by Monaco in the first match of the Champions League group stage and were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Liverpool after a 2-1 defeat at Anfield.
Germany – Bundesliga
Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim are still unbeaten in the league this season but all have been beaten in other competitions. Ancelotti’s Bayern lost 1-0 against Atlético Madrid at the Vicente Calderón, Leipzig were knocked out of the German Cup against Dynamo Dresden on penalties while Hoffenheim also crashed out of the cup after a 2-1 extra-time defeat to FC Köln.
Italy – Serie A
No team remains unbeaten in Serie A this season. Juventus, who usually carry with them a sense of invincibility at this stage of the season, have lost to both Milan sides, while Roma and Lazio have also lost twice.
France – Ligue 1
Surprise leaders Nice are the only side yet to lose in France’s top flight but have lost their two Europa League openers against Schalke (0-1) and Krasnodar (2-5). PSG and Monaco have both lost twice.
