Roma considering move for Cesc Fàbregas in January
The Serie A club are hoping to tie up a loan deal for the Chelsea and Spain midfielder in the upcoming market but his wages may be an issue. Arsenal-Chelsea live
Roma have targeted a move for Chelsea and Spain midfielder Cesc Fàbregas in the January transfer window, according to city daily Il Tempo.
Fàbregas is not playing regularly for Chelsea this season with Antonio Conte preferring other options in his 3-4-3 formation and Roma are planning to tempt the 29-year-old to Serie A.
Move outside the Premier League
If Chelsea decide that Fàbregas is surplus to requirements Roma believe they are in a good position to secure a loan deal, given that Chelsea will not be keen on allowing Fàbregas to move to a Premier League rival.
The main stumbling block is Fàbregas’ salary: if Roma were to secure a six-month loan deal the Serie A side would be obliged to stump up the three million euros Fàbregas would earn at Chelsea between January and June.
