New striker
Within the next few hours, Simone Zaza will complete his move Valencia in a deal which will keep him at Mestalla, on loan until the end of the season. A clause in the deal obliges Valencia to buy the 25-year-old striker outright for 16 million euros on the condition that the player complies with a series of objectives.
Valencia's Director of Football Jesús García Pitarch finalized the club's first reinforcement of the January window in Italy - curiously, closing an operation which was one of the main reasons why Cesare Prandelli quit the coaching job earlier this week (according to his version of events). Zaza has been on Valencia's radar since the summer.
All that remains to be tied up is the small print in the contract concerning the terms should Valencia decide to buy Zaza in June. The deal means that Valencia comply with FIFA's Financial Fair Play regulations although if they want to bring anyone else in this month, another player from the squad must leave.
