CELTA VIGO

Orellana: Berizzo was disloyal, I don't deserve this kind of exit

The Chilean attacker says that it is not the first problem Berizzo has had with players at Celta Vigo and says he does not want to leave Vigo in this manner.

Fabian Orellana was removed from Celta Vigo's team on Tuesday and manager Eduardo Berizzo accused the player of "unacceptable lack of respect" to the team but the 30-year-old has responded in an interview with online publication Emol. The Chilean did not hold back against his coach and accused the Argentine of lying.

Orellana says Berizzo lied

"Berizzo was disloyal to me. I admit that I made a mistake, but it became much bigger than it needed to be. This is not the first thing that has happened within the team and compared to some of those things, this was nothing. He said I lack respect for the team and him, but this is not something got to do with the team. It was something personal between me and him and he made it a professional issue," the exiled Orellana said.

He said he learned of his exclusion from the side two or three days ago and that the lack of respect comment "was not acceptable". Also, according to the Celta Vigo manager, Orellana did not apologise. "When I tried to apologise to him, personally, to the group, and to all of my companions, he would not let me speak. It's not the first time Berizzo has had problems with players."

Two sides to the story

Orellana insists the problem was not that big, but refuses to offer his version of what happened. "I don't know what the people will say, some will support the manager and others will not. But until the truth comes out, it is difficult. I don't know if one day you will know what happened. I am not saying what happened because it was not as bad as the coach paints it. Everyone thinks what they want."

Finally, the Chilean declared his intention to continue in Vigo but says that he is being forced to leave. "I would like to continue with Celta, but the closed the doors on me. If I have to go, I will be leaving in a way I did not want to go. A lot of people are in agreement that I should not be going. But the manager says that is the how it is and the club too, so I have to get my suitcases ready.
