Ex-Barcelona midfielder Xavi has criticised the performance of his former team following their humiliating 4-0 to Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday.
Two goals from former Real Madrid forward Angel Di Maria, as well as strikes from Edison Cavani and Julian Draxler, left the Catlan club staring at early elimination from the Champions League and coach Luis Enrique facing questions over his future.
"In terms of intensity, pace of play, technical, tactical, physical and psychological level, [PSG] were above [Barcelona],” Xavi told French newspaper, L’Equipe.
"The credit for victory rests with the Parisians," Xavi praised Unai Emery’s side, adding effusively: “They had one of the best matches in their history."
Barça can make comeback in 2nd leg - Xavi
"Barcelona had hardly any chances,” the Al-Sadd player continued. “They hardly bothered [PSG keeper] Trapp. Barça were not at their usual level."
However, Xavi did say he believes Los Cules are capable of turning the 4-0 deficit around in the second leg to win the 2nd Round tie, despite no team having done so in the history of the competition.
"I think Barcelona can upset PSG and, why not, make a comeback at home, but it will be difficult," he said.
