Barcelona are continuing to fine-tune their 2017-18 pre-season plans and it seems confirmed that there will be a friendly Clásico encounter as part of the International Champions Cup. Edgar Fornós, a journalist with Catalonia’s largest private radio station RAC-1 has stated that the game will take place in Miami on July 29, which could serve as an aperitif for a hypothetical Clásico in the Spanish Supercup if Barcelona win the Copa del Rey and Real maintain their Liga lead until the final day of the season. ESPN said a few days ago that the Real Madrid-Barcelona game was practically confirmed and RAC-1 have now done the same.
Barça to play Juve, Manchester United in US
Barcelona are also expected to play two further friendlies in the USA: against Juventus in New York on July 22 and against Manchester United on July 25 in Washington. The game against the Italian giants will be a repeat of the 2015 Champions League final and with Barcelona having opened a club office in New York recently the idea of playing a friendly there, possibly in the MetLife Stadium, appeals to the board.
After the Real Madrid game, Barça plan to play one more friendly back in Europe but it remains to be seen how the club’s potential involvement in a two-legged Spanish Supercup affects their arrangements.
