Eusebio rules himself out of the running for Barça job
The Real Sociedad manager said he wanted tostay at the club for a long time and will not be taking up the manager's post at Barcelona with news that Luis Enrique was stepping down.
Real Sociedad manager, Eusebio, has distanced himself from the soon-to-be vacant Barcelona job and says he is completely focused on his role as the manager of the San Sebastián side.
As speculation mounts as to who will replace Luis Enrique as the coach of Barcelona, Eusebio wanted to make it clear that he should be removed from the list of candidates. He said that everything he had to say, was said when he signed a contract extension recently until 2019.
His intention is to "continue with La Real for a long time" unless the club decides otherwise.
Barcelona clause
The 52-year-old former Barcelona player avoided answering whether there was a clause that would allow him to leave if the Catalan club came knocking but he said that "it doesn't matter what is in the contract" and that he was committed to staying at La Real.
"I am saying that my head, my enthusiasm and my hunger are to have a long-running project at La Real," he continued.
"There is nothing more and there will be nothing more," he announced before congratulating Luis Enrique for his three year stint in charge of Barcelona.
