Shakira is set to play a major role in yet another FIFA World Cup. Organizers have confirmed that the Colombian superstar will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup in Mexico City.
The Barranquilla-born artist and Burna Boy will perform “Dai Dai,” the tournament’s official song and one of the tracks featured on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album, which brings together artists from around the world.
FIFA had previously announced that Shakira will also perform during the halftime show of the World Cup Final at New York/New Jersey Stadium on July 19.

Artists Performing at the 2026 World Cup Opening Ceremony in Mexico
For the first time in World Cup history, there will be three opening ceremonies, one in each host country: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. As Mexico will officially kick off the tournament, its ceremony will be the first of the three scheduled events.
Shakira and Burna Boy will not be the only performers at the opening ceremony on June 11 at Mexico City Stadium. The event will feature performances by Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Burna Boy, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná, Shakira, and Tyla, all of whom also contributed to the official World Cup album.

The United States’ opening match will take place on Friday, June 12, at Los Angeles Stadium. The following artists have been confirmed to perform during the opening ceremony for the country’s first match:

Artists performing at the 2026 World Cup opening ceremony in Canada
Canada’s opening ceremony is also scheduled for June 12 at Toronto Stadium. The event will feature performances by the following artists:

- Jessie Reyez
- Michael Bublé
- Nora Fatehi
- Sanjoy
- Vegedream
- William Prince
Confirmed stars for the 2026 World Cup final halftime show
The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final will be the first in tournament history to feature a halftime show. In May, FIFA and Global Citizen announced that Madonna, Shakira, and BTS will headline the halftime entertainment during the Final on July 19 at New York/New Jersey Stadium.
