Barcelona papers react to Celta win and believe in PSG comeback

BARCELONA

Barcelona papers react to Celta win and believe in PSG comeback

Portada de Sport del día 5 de marzo.

The Catalan press were in confident mood after Saturday's five goal show from Messi and co. with Mundo Deportivo, Sport and L’Esportiu speaking of a Champions League fight back.

Barcelona

How perceptions can change

It was inevitable. The five goals without reply to a generally-impressive side in Celta Vigo at Camp Nou has got the Catalan media, among others, rather excited. Following the Champions League first leg in Paris, most had written off the chances of Messi and co. making it to the next round - and calls for Luis Enrique's head to be served up on a platter grew louder - but fast-forward a week or so and optimism has appeared. Whether the manager's decision to leave also has something to do with that remains unclear.

We believe

Sport kept it simple: "We believe in the comeback" while urging the blaugranas to recreate their "art" in Camp Nou along with a photo of their Messi, Suárez, Neymar trident. They also state that the much maligned Luis Enrique has reignited the "dream" to turn over the French champions.

Are you watching?

Mundo Deportivo go with a photo of Messi's call and a headline of "Hello, PSG?", appearing to question if the French side are watching. Inside the article they talk of "sensational Messi" and the "awakening of the Champions League comeback dream".

A burden lifted

L'Esportiu go for some word play in their one word headline "Liberados", suggesting a freedom of play and freedom of pressure following the decision of the Barcelona manager to leave.

Positive chat

The general dailies followed suit with La Vanguardia “Barça rehearses the comeback”, El Periódico “Barça roll over Celta and await PSG”, and Ara, also use the picture of Messi mimicking a phonecall saying, “making an optimistic call”.

Barcelona welcome PSG to Camp Nou on Wednesday evening knowing that they need to score at least four times in ninety minutes.
