NAPOLI-REAL MADRID

Real Madrid boss Zidane warns Napoli: We'll offer no let-up

Zinedine Zidane spoke to the media on Monday, on the eve of the Champions League holders' last-16 second leg away to Napoli.

Update:
Real Madrid boss Zidane warns Napoli: We'll offer no let-up

Zinedine Zidane has told Napoli there'll be no let-up for 90 minutes as Real Madrid bid to seal a seventh straight Champions League quarter-final berth on Tuesday.

After a 3-1 defeat at the Bernabéu in February, Napoli host the 11-time European champions dreaming of claiming a major upset and a first ever last-eight place.

Zidane: "We've come here to win"

Zidane has fond memories of the Stadio San Paolo, having come up against Napoli during a five-year spell as a player with Juventus.

But although he anticipates a tough game, he said Real expect one result only.

"It will be a difficult match, the same as it always is in the Champions League," the Frenchman explained in his pre-match press conference on Monday.

"It's never easy here. I've played here in the past. The fans always get behind the team, which is really great, but it also spurs us on as well.

"We're more than ready. We've come here to win, not to try and manage the game. We'll suffer, but we're motivated."

If Napoli are to go through, the Serie A side are likely to need to do what no team has done against Los Blancos in 46 games - keep a clean sheet.

A fast start with an early goal - and an all-round tight defensive display - would ideally be required from Maurizio Sarri's men.

"It's crucial Real Madrid start well"

But Zidane appears to have covered all the bases.

"Obviously they will play with a lot of intensity at the start of the game. But Napoli are a team that know how to play in different ways," he added.

"They're strong on the counter-attack and they use the flanks well. Tomorrow it's crucial we start well. But we also have to have intensity for 90 minutes.

"I want us to leave everything out on the pitch and play good football, but also use our heads."
