A suspicious package addressed to club president Florentino Pérez caused a scare at Real Madrid's home stadium on Friday afternoon.
Concerns were raised at around lunchtime at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, which houses club offices, when the packet - which had been sent from Italy - was found to contain an unidentified white powder.
Contents of package probed
After several hours of confusion, the authorities were alerted at approximately 17:00 CET and the emergency protocol for such incidents was activated.
The police and fire brigade arrived at the ground accompanied by agents specialising in chemicals, who examined the contents of the package.
Disinfection procedures were carried out on all Bernabéu staff, while police also evacuated the shopping centre located on the corner of the stadium.
