Real Madrid and Isco are closer than ever to reaching an agreement to extend the midfielder's contract. Sources close to the player have assured AS that talks between both parties have intensified this week and the intention is to offer a long-term extension of between five to six years on top of the player's current contract which is due to expire in June 2018. "An agreement is very close", they told this newspaper. If the operation is concluded, which seems very likely, Isco will see his salary raised from three million euros gross per season to almost eight million before tax.
Isco's representatives have received enquiries from numerous clubs in recent weeks, with Barcelona being one of the most insistent. All of them have guaranteed improved economic terms and a prominent role within their respective sporting projects. However, despite the fact that he has found himself on the bench more than he would like, Isco's priority has always been Real Madrid.
