Cristiano Ronaldo made more history by becoming the first player to score 100 goals in European competition with a double in Real Madrid's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Bayern Munich on Wednesday. He said afterwards the goals were "incredible" and he was delighted to have helped Real Madrid to victory

Two more for Champions League 100

The four-time world player of the year took his tally to 98 goals in the Champions League with goals in the 47th and 77th minutes. Ronaldo is now bearing down on becoming the first player to score 100 Champions League goals.

The Portuguese has now scored 82 goals in 84 appearances in the Champions League for Madrid. He also netted 15 in the competition and one in a qualifier for Manchester United prior to moving to the Spanish capital in 2009. And he scored twice in his only previous appearance in the UEFA Super Cup as Madrid defeated Sevilla 2-0 in 2014.

Messi vs Cristiano race to 100

Wednesday's brace extended Ronaldo's lead over Barcelona rival Lionel Messi in the race to reach a Champions League century. Messi has 97 European goals, 94 of which have come in the Champions League, and is the top scorer in this season's competition with 11.

However, the Argentine is unlikely to have many more opportunities to add to that tally this season after Barcelona were thrashed 3-0 by Juventus in the first leg of their quarter-final tie on Tuesday.

Here are Carlo Ancelotti's thoughts on the Real Madrid - Bayern Munich second leg, where Cristiano Ronaldo will be starting, barring something utterly foreseen.
