Mbappé has the big European teams excited this year after his performances in the Champions League and the Ligue 1. Real Madrid was one of the first clubs to fix their covetous gaze on the rising star of French football, and the young France international (he made his full debut against Spain in the most recent friendly) hasn’t been shy in sending nods and winks the way of Real Madrid’s upper echelons: just as an example he clicked ‘like’ on Real Madrid’s post on Instagram after Zidane’s side had won against Alavés and he treasures a photograph of himself posing next to Cristiano Ronaldo in Valdebebas.

PSG ready to fight for Mbappé

But a tough competitor has appeared to challenge Real Madrid’s determinion to make off with one of this season’s revelations: PSG’s millions. The French club aren’t going to be penny-pinchers when it comes time to bolster their already star-studded squad. Meaning another serious obstacle to Real Madrid’s plans, added to the opposition of Monaco to sell one of their most valuable assets. The club from the principality have rejected offers of up to 100 million euros from the Premier League and the British press are speculating furiously about determined interest from the two Manchester clubs for Mbappé.

More PSG spending

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is preparing a(nother) cheque-book revolution to restructure the squad after crashing out of the Champions League at the hands of Barcelona on that now famous night, and with the team currently fighting with none other than Monaco for the league title. By bringing in Mbappé, PSG would strike a double blow: making off with highly skilled youngster with a great future, while weakening one of their main rivals in domestic competition (just as they did with Kurzawa). And if that weren’t enough, it would continue to rejuvenate and bolster a squad that is desperate to lift the European Cup.

PSG have invested 144 million euros in signings who have made little impact on the first team, with the exception of Draxler (23 years old, who cost 40 million euros from Wolfsburg) and Meunier (25 years old, six million from Brugge).

Mbappé: 80 to 90 million starting offer

Le Parisien recently published that Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is willing to start talks with Monaco offering 80 to 90 million euros. And in the dressing room at the Paris club the players have been stunned by the Mbappé’s performances and would be delighted to have him as a teammate. Marquinhos said recently: “He’s playing amazingly. I hope our bosses are watching him. He’s going to have a maor impact, because he’s got superb quality”.

Real Madrid's Champions League semi-final opponents decided on Friday 21 April.
