Jonathan Calleri will play for Málaga next season, according to various media outlets in Argentina.
Calleri struggled at West Ham
23-year-old Calleri has featured for Boca Juniors, Sao Paulo, and West Ham United in recent seasons. At Slaven Bilic’s West Ham, the Argentine started just four times in the Premier League.
Calleri was on loan in East London from Deportivo Maldonado, a second division Uruguayan outfit that operate a curious model of buying and immediately loaning out talented South American players.
Málaga have time to replace Sandro
Málaga are keen to acquire the services of two strikers. The club is prepared for the likely departure of Sandro to Atlético Madrid, while Charles’ contract will soon expire, and he may move along the south coast to Granada.
Meanwhile, Málaga want to extend and improve Pablo Fornals’ contract, which is currently due to expire in 2019.
