Mbappé: "Real Madrid have wanted me since I was 14"

Kylian Mbappé spoke to Canal+ France about interest from Real Madrid after he helped his country to a 3-2 victory over England despite having Raphael Varane sent off midway through the game. "They have been trying to recruit me since I was 14 years old," said the striker who set the Champions League and Ligue 1 on fire this season. The teenager has already visited Real Madrid's training facilities at Valdebebas on the outskirts of the city where he met Ronaldo, his idol who might become his teammate if negotiations bear fruit.

Zidane has already admitted that Mbappé was a target for Real Madrid when it was said that the French attacker spent three days in Madrid back in 2012 as he tried to get a feel for the club and how they work.

The 18-year-old says he is unaffected by reports in the press about his future, saying "when I was younger, I read the press more", which might be a good thing because he is set for a summer filled with speculation over where he will play his football next season. On the game against England, he said "I got an assist and that almost makes me as happy as scoring a goal".
