Yet the man from the Canary Islands has not been free of controversy this year. In Barcelona’s match against Real Betis at the Estadio Villamarín, he did not award the visitors a goal, even though the ball clearly crossed the line.
Hernández Hernández, who also officiated the most recent Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona, was joined by Carlos del Cerro Grande and Jesús Gil Manzano on the LaLiga refereeing ‘podium’.
Clos Gómez retires
The shuffle of the refereeing pack will see Carlos Clos Gómez retire. He took charge of the Copa del Rey final between Barcelona and Alavés this year.
Ups and downs
Daniel Ocón Arráiz and Iñaki Vicandi Garrido will move down from the first to the second division, with Pablo González Fuertes, David Medié Jiménez, and Javier Alberola Rojas moving in the opposite direction.
Aitor Gorostegui Fernández Ortega and Victor Areces Franco will be the reserve referees.
