Real Madrid lead UEFA's rankings with Atletico in number two
The two Madrid teams lead the first UEFA rankings of the season with Barcelona in third while Sevilla sit in sixth as Spain dominate the top tenChampions League Final: Real Madrid - Liverpool
In what was considered a formality, Real Madrid top UEFA's rankings while Atletico Madrid sit in second. The rise of the rojiblancos is the most notable of all but Spain's domination of the top ten is also quite remarkable. The rankings are the first of the season after last week's first qualifying rounds of the Europa League and the Champions League. Barcelona are third while Sevilla sit in sixth.
The rise of Atletico Madrid under Diego Simeone in Europe
Atletico's Madrid's absence in 2012-13 has been annulled given UEFA only take the last five years into account. This puts Simeone's men in front of Bayern, who fall from second to fourth. In the last five years, Atletico have reached two finals, two semi-finals and one quarter-final.
The ranking also reflects LaLiga's dominance in Europe in the recent past. Spain's top flight has had six of the last eight finalists in the last four years and four winners - Real Madrid three times and Barcelona once. Meanwhil, in the Europa League, Sevilla were crowned champions in three of the last four seasons from 2014 to 2016.

Below Spain's top four, you have to scroll down as fat as 23rd to find the league's fifth team, which is Villarreal. in the top fifty, Athletic Bilbao, Valencia and Celta sit in 29th, 30th and 41st resectively.

The individual results are one thing but by country, Spain hold a whopping 25 point advantage over the Bundesliga. The Premier League are third in front of Italy but this is because they have four teams who qualify for the group stages of the Champions League.
