Diego Alves says his last goodbyes to teammates in Valencia
The penalty-saving specialist will move back to his native Brazil and will join Flamengo since Marcelino insisted on making changes in the dressing room.
Marcelino arrived in Valencia and wanted to make changes in the dressing room. one of the changes he highlighted was that of goalkeeper Diego Alves, who will move to Flamengo.
The Brazilian penalty-saving specialist will join Dani Parejo as the pair look set to leave the club for low asking prices. Marcelino was unwilling to change his mind on Alves, and is happy with his two keepers, Jaume and Neto, heading into the new season, his first at the club.
Alves arrived from Almeria in the summer of 2011. He remained the club's number one despite the fact Valencia had two other top class keepers on their roaster with Maty Ryan, who moved to Bright and Hove Albion this summer, and Jaume Domenech.
The clear-out of goalkeepers at Valencia is set to continue in the next couple of hours as youth product, Antonio Sivera, looks set to make the leap to Alaves and play in the top flight. The under-19 shot-stopper looks set to move on loan with an option to buy.
