Manchester City are set to sign Benjamin Mendy from AS Monaco for a fee believed to be in the region of €50 million, according to L'Equipe.
After signing Kyle Walker and Danilo, reportedly, Pep Guardiola is set to upgrade the left-back position with the impressive Mendy, who is 23 and signed for Monaco last summer from Marseille. The Ligue 1 side will make a €35 million plus profit on the player, who they signed for a fee of €13 million just 2 months ago.
Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta all left the club at the end of the season, two right-backs and a left-back and that is exactly what Pep has brought in as he looks to put his own stamp on a squad that looked unbalanced and unprepared to play the style of football that Guardiola likes to play with inverted wing-backs and various other idiosyncracies.
It will bring Manchester City's spending to over €200 million when you include goalkeeper Ederson, attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva and central midfielder Douglas Luiz into the mix.
