Jesús Navas: Sevilla want to sign ex-City man before Emirates Cup
Club and player are close to reaching an agreement for a three-year deal, which would see Navas return to the club he left in 2013 for Manchester City.
The return of Jesús Navas to Sevilla is imminent. Negotiations have been protracted, yet club and player practically reached an agreement for a three-year contract at the end of last week.
Navas and Sevilla want deal done this week
Sevilla travel to London on Friday to take part in the Emirates Cup along with Arsenal and RB Leipzig, and the Andalusian club want to confirm the arrival of Navas before then.
This outcome would suit the player, who wants to integrate with the squad and begin training as soon as possible.
Berizzo gains more options
Navas’ return to the club he left in 2013 for Manchester City would open up additional options to manager Eduardo Berizzo, particularly in attack. Yet Pep Guardiola also made use of the 31-year-old’s flexibility to play him as a wing-back, something that may be of use to Berizzo if he opts for a tactical shift.
Navas started 12 Premier League matches for City during the 2016/17 campaign, featuring from the bench a further 12 times. He did not register any goals or assists.
