Depor turn down €16m offer from Brighton for Andone

The Premier League club have made three offers for the Romanian international of €13m,€15m and the latest of €16m but to no avail.

Brighton and Hove Albion are in need of goals, having failed to hit the back of the net in their first three games after promotion to the Premier League, and have settled on Deportivo striker Florin Andone as the solution.

However, Deportivo are not in the mood to part with their Romanian international, who scored 12 Liga goals last season, with the Branquiazuis locked in a similar impasse with Arsenal over the return of Lucas Pérez to Riazor. Unsurprisingly given the state of the transfer market this summer, Depor have pointed to Andone’s minimum release clause of 30 million euros but Brighton remain confident they can persuade the Liga side to do business before the transfer window closes in the UK at 11pm on August 31.

Andone in no mood to leave Depor

Depor also rebuffed an offer of 14 million euros from Burnley for the 24-year-old, whose physical attributes are certainly suited to the Premier League. Andone himself has stated that he is fully immersed in Depor and has no desire to make a move elsewhere. “I want to stay here and play for Depor this season and for the rest of my contract,” he said recently, with his current deal running until 2021.

Arsenal's Pérez the missing piece of the puzzle

Negotiations for Pérez, who is unwanted at Arsenal but unable to move until Depor meet the Gunners’ asking price, is key to Andone’s situation. As things stand, the cash-strapped Galicians are seeking a loan move for their former striker, who moved to North London last summer in a 20-million-euro deal, but if they sell Andone they could tempt Arsenal with a potential permanent transfer.
