Fernando Redondo's son called up to Pablo Aimar's Argentina Under-15 squad

Pablo Aimar has called Federico Redondo of Argentinos Juniors to his Argentina youth team, where the youngster will look to emulate his father's success.

Federico Redondo is the youngest son of Fernando Redondo. Like his father, he is beginning his football career at Argentinos Juniors, the club known as ‘the seedbed of the world’ in reference to its reputation for developing young players.

Federico Redondo has similar traits to his father

Diego Maradona, Juan Román Riquelme, and Sergio Batista are among the players to have emerged from La Paternal, a suburb in the west of Buenos Aires.

Federico Redondo cites Riquelme as his idol, and also models aspects of his game on Boca Juniors midfielder Fernando Gago. Yet his style of play bears distinct similarities to that of his father. They share the same vision, care of the ball, and on-pitch personality.

'I don't feel pressure due to being a Redondo'

The Argentine Football Association has notified Argentinos Juniors that Federico Redondo will form part of the Albiceleste Under-15 squad coached by Pablo Aimar. The youngsters will play a friendly in the Catamarca province of the country.

“I don’t feel pressure due to being a Redondo,” Federico assured, “it’s a pride. My dad talks to me after matches and advises me on how I can improve.”
