One of the stadiums in which the system is expected to be trialled is Atlético Madrid's recently-opened Wanda Metropolitano, where Los Rojiblancos host third-tier outfit Elche in November.

VAR now used in Bundesliga and Serie A

Having been tested in international friendlies and tournaments including the Under-20 World Cup and the Club World Cup, VAR has now been introduced in Germany's Bundesliga and Italy's Serie A.

Meanwhile, goalline technology (GLT) is now used in every major European league except LaLiga.
