Agüero father points finger at taxi driver over Amsterdam crash
Speaking in the Argentinian media, Leonel Del Castillo has said the Man City striker's injuries "could have been much worse" in Thursday's accident.
Sergio Agüero's father has said the Manchester City star's injuries "could have been much worse" after the striker was involved in a car crash in Amsterdam on Thursday, and has pointed the finger at the driver of the taxi he was travelling in.
City have confirmed that Agüero broke a rib in the accident, with the Argentine set to be sidelined for around two to four weeks.
Agüero Sr: "He's told me the driver was going very fast"
"He's told me that the taxi driver was going very fast, and that's why he made sure his seatbelt was on," Leonel Del Castillo has been quoted as saying in the Argentinian media.
"He was accompanied by a guy who works for the company that represents him, and he asked him to tell the driver to slow down, [to say] that there was no rush.
"I've seen the pictures and, to be honest, I can only say, 'Thank God' - it could have been much worse."
Agüero out of World Cup qualifiers against Peru, Ecuador
Agüero's injury rules him out of Argentina's crucial final World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Ecuador in October, with Del Castillo admitting: "He had a good chance of starting. It's a shame.
"But now he has to focus on his recovery."
Agüero's City side, who are currently top of the Premier League, take on Chelsea in the English top flight today.
