The Messi Experience Park, a theme park dedicated to the Argentine striker, will open its doors in Nanjing, China "at the beginning of 2020", according to Jaume Roures, the president of Mediapro, the Spanish audiovisual group who designed the project.

The Messi Experience Park will receive €170 million in investments and will be part of the Mediapro Exhibitions, Phoenix Group and the Leo Messi Management portfolio.

The result will be a 22-acre theme park dedicated to one of the world's greatest players ever. The man from Rosario. It also aims to be a " huge tribute to football", according to Roures during the presentation of MED in Barcelona.

"Young people don't go to museums. They want other experiences and we will offer them that. Above all, a level of interaction," said the president of Mediapro.

The park will combine robotic attractions together with audiovisual productions in huge format, immersive experiences and state-of-the-art software like virtual reality, mixed reality, synthetic people and human holographs.

"We want to create a complete experience for visitors," explained David Xirau, the head of Mediapro Exhibitions, and he estimed that "four million visitors, from the third year onwards" will visit the park. 80% of those visitors will be the Chinese public and 20% tourists.

Xirau said that the company are trying to create other Messi Experience Parks in different parts of the world.
