Zidane's Liga puzzle for Getafe

Trailing leaders Barcelona by seven, the Madrid manager will consider the rotations required to come away from the Coliseum with three points while having an eye on the Spurs game.

In the relatively brief time that Zinedine Zidane has been Real Madrid coach he has returned to business after a Fifa interuption six times. On five of those occasions his side took all three points, in the other they drew. That single blemish to the post-international-break run was against Levante earlier this season. Two dropped points at the Santiago Bernabéu as it ended a goal apiece on 9 September.

Zidane rotates and usually wins

Zizou's formula for these matches is always the same: rotate. "I'm not going to change. I believe in what I do," he argues each time he speaks in public.

And with some of the changes forced through injury - Carvajal, Kovacic, Bale and Keylor - the coach will bring in at least five new players from the XI that faced Espanyol in the last league outing. Achraf will likely keep his place as cover for Carvajal but Casilla, Theo Hernández, Marcos Llorente and Lucas Vázquez will come in for the local duel against Getafe in the Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

Madrid to avoid Coliseum slip up

Due for a rest, with fresh legs going to be needed against a very mobile Tottenham team that will form the Champions League opposition on Tueday evening, will be Modric, Casemiro and Varane. The fifth player to be rotated by Zidane will be either Marco Asensio or Isco. Already seven points behind league leaders Barcelona, Madrid can not afford to drop any more points, and especially in a stadium where they have not lost since August 2012. The last fixture between these sides here ended 1-5 and Los Blancos will be hoping that the wider squad can deliver something similar as they return to business.
