Las Palmas' Alen Halilovic to undergo surgery
The Croatia international has been unable to fully recover from the ankle injury which he picked up in the Week 4 meeting with Athletic Club.
UD Las Palmas confirmed today that loanee Alen Halilovic will undergo an operation to remedy a niggling ankle injury he suffered a month ago. The club's media department initially did not specify when the operation will be performed or how long the player will remain sidelined but later stated that Halilovic will undergo surgery in Madrid on Friday 20th. Some sources claim that the Croatia U21 international will be out of action for between two to three months.
Halilovic suffers damaged ankle tendon
Halilovic hobbled out of the Week 4 meeting with Athletic Club on 17 September with severe pain to his left ankle following a challenge from Raúl García. He was treated by Las Palmas' medical department and doctors from the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) but after few signs of improvement, it was felt the best option would be for the player to take a trip to the operating table. Las Palmas coach Pako Ayesterán was resigned to losing Halilovic until the New Year: "Unfortunately, it's a situation which is out of our control. We don't know whether he will be out for two months or longer".
