Real Madrid's basketball section have announced the signing of Walter Tavares. The 25-year-old, Cape verde-born centre has signed a three-year contract, which will keep him at Real Madrid until 2020. A club statement read: Real Madrid C.F. have reached an agreement with Walter Samuel Tavares, a center who arrives from Raptors 905. The player is contracted to the club until the end of the 2019/2020 season.
Edy Tavares returns to Spain
Tavares joins from Raptors 905, Toronto Raptors' afiliate team in the NBA G-League. He completed the pre-season with Cleveland Cavaliers. The player is already familiar with Spain's Liga Endesa for the two season's he spent with Gran Canaria. He joins Pablo Laso's team to cover for Gustavo Ayón and Ognjen Kuzmic, who are out injured and will occupy one of the places permitted by Liga Endesa to players who have been trained at youth level at a Spanish club.
