Leeds United legend Tony Yeboah denies claims that he is dead
The former Ghana international has rubbished rumours on social media that he had passed away.
Tony Yeboah, a cult hero for Leeds United and Ghana, has denied reports claiming he is dead.
On Monday, several doubtful reports claimed that the former Black Stars’ striker had passed away in a hospital in the United States (here’s an example of one of those reports), raising concerns on football fans around the globe.
Yeboah: "This has to stop"
The former Leeds talisman moved fast to dismiss the reports, saying that he is not even sick.
“Those people behind these stories must stop this,” said the 51-year-old to Ghanaian radio station Kasapa FM.
'It is not just me that they have done this to. Recently they did the same to Abedi Pele which is not nice.
'You don’t have to use social media for such vices. I am not even sick so when I heard it, I was so surprised.
'My aunt saw it on social media and told me about. I want to assure all those who have been worried by the news that it is not true. I am alive.'

Yeboah - a cult hero
Perhaps, Yeboah is best remembered by Leeds United fans for scoring a superb volley against Liverpool in the 1995-96 season.

With a reputation for scoring spectacular goals, he is considered one of the most prolific scorers in Ghanaian and African history.
Aside from Leeds United, Yeboah also played for teams like Eintracht Frankfurt and Hamburger SV.
He was capped 59 times by Ghana, wearing the Black Stars’ shirt for over ten years.
With 29 goals, he is the third highest goal scorer in the nation’s history, just behind Abedi Pele and Asamoah Gyan.
Nowadays, he runs an international sports agency and a chain of hotels in Ghana.
