PSG 2-0 Troyes Ligue 1: goals, as it happened, match report

Second-half goals from Neymar and Edinson Cavani were enough to ease PSG past Troyes without leaving first gear.

PSG 2-0 Troyes Ligue 1: goals, as it happened, match report

PSG extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to 10 points with victory over Troyes at Parc des Princes.

Edinson Cavani missed a penalty in the first half before Neymar broke the deadlock with 17 minutes remaining. The Brazil international – whose father did little to quash rumours of a future move to Real Madrid – seized on a loose ball and rasped a shot in to the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Cavani made up for his earlier error on the brink of the final whistle, firing Neymar’s cut-back beyond Mamadou Samassa and in to the net.

MOTM: Samuel Grandsir. The Troyes right-winger was a consistent threat from the flank, and was unlucky to have a goal ruled out for offside.

PSG 2-0 Troyes: as it happened

Second-half goals from Neymar and Cavani are enough to see an uninspiring PSG past Troyes.

90'+3' FT.

90'   Three minutes of added time.

90' GOOOOOOL! Cavani makes sure of the three points, and makes up for his missed penalty in the first half. He waits patiently for Neymar's cut-back, and lashes the ball home from near the penalty spot.

Neymar after notching.

88' Emery's last change sees Christopher Nkunku replaces Javier Pastore.

87'   Cavani grits his teeth and bursts in to the box. Traore plants his foot on the ball and spins away to prevent the Uruguayan rushing through in a one-on-one situation.

82'   Oooft, a fine chance for Troyes. South Korean forward Hyun glances Grandsir's near-post cross with the finest of headers, and it Trapp is forced to block. The 'keeper didn't know a great deal about that. Hyun gets on the end of another cross a minute later. His shot trickles across the six-yard line and falls in to the Trapp.

80' A final change for Troyes: The superbly-named Bryan Pele comes on for Francois Bellugue.

80'   PSG are gradually forced back to their 'keeper by PSG's high press. Cavani almost robs the ball from Samassa after a soft backpass. Not quite.

75'   Troyes continue to sporadically threaten through Grandsir on the right, but there's never anyone in the box to convert.

72' GOOOOOL! Neymar shatters the deadlock! The Brazilian seizes on a loose ball and rasps a shot in to the bottom corner from 25 yards.

70' Unai Emery makes a double change. Rabiot and Mbappé come on for Lo Celso and Di María.

69'   Neymar goes down under the challenge of Herelle just inside the box. It looked like the centre-half just grazed the ball with his heel, before then proceeding to get all of the man. No penalty, though. Probably because the referee is as tired of this Neymar vs Cavani soap opera as the rest of us.

68'   Neymar navigates the wall but his shot is straight down the throat of Samassa. Not for the first time this evening, his hands are safe.

66'   Francois Bellugou cleans out Neymar on the edge of the box. The Brazilian stands over it and wipes his brow...

62' Troyes bring on two pairs of fresh legs: Hyun-Jun Suk replaces Niane, who has a streak of white paint down his forearm to prove he has 'put a shift in'. Khaoiu also trots off, with Benjamin Nivet taking his place.

60'   PSG take another free-kick short. This one is laid off to Lo Celso, who strides forward and stings Samassa's palms with a daisy cutter.

60' Niane is the first name to go in to the book. His crime was a cynical trip on Neymar.

58'   Neymar squirms away from a challenge and on to his left foot, which he then uses to send the ball over the bar.

56'   There are Troyes players lining up in the box to nod the ball towards goal. They all rather get in the way of each other, and Niane's header loops wide of the far post.

50'   Kurzawa's chipped cross goes all the away to Thomas Meunier, who plucks it out of the sky and leathers a volley in to the back of Stephane Darbion.

49'   PSG have started with a bee inhabiting their bonnet. Looks like Unai Emery dusted off the 'ol hair dryer at half time.

46' We've got a second half going on here, ladies and gents.

The teams are back in the tunnel ahead of the second half.

A missed penalty from Edinson Cavani means PSG and Troyes are all square at the break.

45' HT.

44'   Stephane Darbion leathers a left-footed shot towards the near post. It whistles towards goal and in the end, just past side netting.

41'   SAVED! Samassa hurls himself to his right to deny Cavani.

40'   Cavani, not Neymar, will take.

39'   PENALTY TO PSG! Azamoum with a slight tug on Cavani's shirt, and he goes straight down.

37'   Javier Pastore embarks on a mazy run in to the box. A Troyes defender pokes a foot in, with the result that the ball pops out for Verratti on the edge of the box. The Italian leans back and scoops it over.

35'   GOOOO.. No! Troyes have the ball in the 'ol onion bag through Grandsir, but the linesman had already hoisted his flag to signal Stephane Darbion offside.

34'   Neymar dinks the ball in to the box with a rabona. It's straight in to the arms of Samassa.

33'   Samassa reacts well to prevent Neymar speeding on to a quick free-kick in the box. That's a clear tactic from PSG so far, they're trying to catch Troyes out with swift set pieces.

30'   Momentary panic for PSG as Grandsir twists, turns, and wrong foots Thiago Silva before forcing Trapp in to a diving save. Less than a minute later, Grandsir whips a dangerous cross through the six-yard box. The away side are growing in to this...

28'   Thomas Meunier twitches forward from right back and a little bit of space opens up for a shot. It's a rasper. It's just wide.

27'   Neymar waltzes through a succession of tackles and closes in on the box. Under pressure from Jimmy Giraudon, he hits a through ball slightly behind Di María.

23'   Neymar is penalised for handball by the corner flag. He attempts a half-hearted shrug at the referee. Things aren't dropping for the Brazil international so far.

20'   Di María continues to knock at the door. This time he dips inside from the wing and flashes a low shot just wide of the far post.

19'   A neat phase of passing play from Troyes results in Adama Niana using his chest to knock the ball past Kimpembe in the box. The striker's contact is a little heavy, and it runs out for a goal kick.

14'   Samassa has a bit of an, ahem, episode. The 'keeper slides out to claim the ball at the feet of Di Maria, but inadvertantly knocks the ball out of the box and straight to Cavani. The No.9 tries to find Neymar in the box, but Samassa recovers and plucks his cross out of the air, as if he has laid an elaborate 'headers and volleys' trap to lure Cavani in to nets.

12'   Neymar wins a free-kick on the edge of the box and catches the defence by surprise when he quickly scoops it over the top for Cavani. The Uruguayan meets it on the volley, and absolutely tonks it in to next week. "He almost hit that too well".

10'   A distinct lack of Neymar in the opening 10 minutes.

8'   Troyes have a tentative venture forward and get themselves a corner. You feel they'll have to make intelligent use of set pieces this eve... oh. He's failed to clear the first man.

5'  5' Di María is the man causing all the problems. He swivels on the edge of the box and flashes a half-volley towards the near post. It squirms through Samassa's arms. The 'keeper's legs are shut though, and that spares his blushes.

3'   Mamadou Samassa beats the cross away with a strong punch and Troyes hoof clear. But, it's back with PSG. They play the ball around patiently, waiting for a gap.

2'   Ángel Di María dashes past Charles Traore on the right wing and draws a foul in line with the six-yard box, by the touchline. The Argentine will deliver.

1' Peeep! Troyes get these 90 minutes of unscripted drama underway!

Here come the teams in to a rather sparsely populated Parc des Princes.

Claudio Ranieri has done PSG a favour this evening, with his Nantes side beating third-placed Monaco.

Troyes have made a reasonable start to the season in Ligue 1 after promotion from the second division via the play-offs earlier this year. The first line of the club's wikipedia page mentions an Intertoto Cup win over Newcastle in 2001...

One end of the stadium is closed this evening due to a sanction incurred by fans.

Troyes XI: Samassa; Deplagne, Giraudon, Herelle, Traore; Azamoum, Bellogou; Grandsir, Khaoui, Darbion; Niane.

Nice selection of fruit, no team news from Troyes.

PSG XI: Trapp; Meunier, Silva, Kimpembe, Kurzawa; Verratti, Lo Celso, Pastore; Di Maria, Cavani, Neymar.

A milestone for Thiago Silva this evening.
Scores on the doors from elsewhere in Ligue 1 this evening. All of the other matches have already kicked off. The top one is worth keeping an eye on, as Monaco are in the chasing pack.
Scene: set.

Neymar's adaptation to life at PSG has been smooth on the pitch. Off it, things have been a little more turbulent. The player's father has not helped that situation by refusing to a rule out a move to Real Madrid in future. Read the full story.

PSG have said a very happy birthday to their player Gonçalo Guedes, who is out on loan at Valencia and is recovering from surgery on his toe. He played an important part in Valencia's draw against Barcelona at the weekend (and has been vital for them in their blistering start to the season), but aggravated an existing stress fracture. He'll be back in January, and hopefully is having a great birthday, with his feet up.
