The first snows of winter over the Iberian Peninsula have carpeted various stadiums, among them Eibar’s Ipurua, Alavés’ home ground Mendizorrotza and Osasuna’s El Sadar. However, the Spanish football authorities have said there is no possibility of any games being postponed as things stand.

Osasuna are due to host Gimnástic at the El Sadar on Friday night at 21:00 and that game is set to go ahead despite the snowfall.

Club workers have been active since the morning working to clear the snow from the pitch and unless the climatic conditions change for the worse the week 17 Segunda División game will kick off as scheduled.

The match official assigned to the game, Milla Alvendiz, has paid El Sadar a visit with his team to inspect the pitch.

However, Alavés were forced to call off their youth sides’ morning training session but the first team were able to get out on the training pitches ahead of the side’s first game under new coach Abelardo away at Girona on Monday night.

Meanwhile, Mirandés players got into the spirit of the season after training.
