Valverde suggests Arda Turan may play against Sporting
FC Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde spoke about what two factors will decide whether or not the Turkish player gets back into the team.
Ernesto Valverde spoke to the press ahead of Tuesday evening's Champions League match against Sporting de Portugal, the final game of the group phase, and highlighted the response he expects from his players in spite of injuries, and a potential appearance for Arda Turan.
Youth team experience
With nothing at stake in the final game - qualification for the knock-out stages has already been decided - the Barça manager was asked whether he'd look to the kids for this game allowing his first team players to get a rest:
"We're happy that there is no qualification to play for but we know that our opponent is coming to win and we like the Champions League and have a commitment to our fans. We can make changes but we know the importance of the clash."
Valverde: "Mascherano is our player and we are counting on him"
On the current issue of players missing, Valverde was confident in what his playing squad could deliver:
"The reality is what it is, and the players always respond. Knowing there are difficulties in the season and that the squad has to be ready to compete, I am sure that we will."
Arda Turan may feature against Sporting
One player that has been making headlines for a while now is Turkish midfielder Arda Turan, with the expectation that he will leave the Catalan club soon. When asked about the player having an involvement in this match the response was simple:
"It will depend on his effort...and my opinion."
The Barça coach was also asked questions by reporters on Sergio Ramos' red card, Messi's involvement in the game and the rumours surrounding Santi Mina's move to the Camp Nou but he chose not to give any significant comment.
