The 32-year-old new record holder is in his second stint at Sevilla - he made his first team debut two days after his 18th birthday in 2003. In June 2013 he left to join Manchester City and returned home last summer after four seasons in the Premier League.

Navas is delighted to be in the history books and said after the Levante match: "I feel very proud to have set this new record in front of our fans. The team needs to give more and take this forward. We have to give 100%, and keeping working hard at our game. We also must start our games stronger. It wasn't our day today. What matters is that the boss recovers well, he's been with us since this morning".
