Alex Morgan pays Barça a visit, fuelling rumours of a move

USA star Alex Morgan’s visit to Camp Nou has led to rumours of a possible move to Barcelona for the 28-year-old forward. Morgan was a guest of the club at Sunday night’s 4-0 victory over Deportivo.

It was not the first time Morgan has been entertained by the club. In 2015, she visited the La Masia youth academy when she said that she would love to play for Barcelona at some stage in her career. Morgan currently plays for Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer League but already has experience of playing in Europe with Lyon, where she spent last season and won the Champions League.

A move to Barcelona would be in line with the media-friendly Morgan’s trajectory to date and Barça are this season in the running for every title they are contesting; adding a player with 80 goals in 134 internationals would be more than a statement signing.

Morgan was received by Barça president Jospe Maria Bartomeu in the VIP box at Camp Nou and after the game spoke to players including Gerard Piqué, Paulinho and Thomas Vermaelen.
