The LaLiga giants are ready to use the money from Javier Mascherano's likely move to China to secure the Colombian's arrival at the Camp NouChelsea - Barcelona U - 19 live: UEFA Youth League final
Yerry Mina will become a Barcelona player once the January transfer window opens. The Blaugrana are long-time admirers of the Palmeiras defender, 23, who they see as a major prospect - albeit one that will require a period of adaptation to LaLiga following his arrival from Brazilian football.
Barcelona to use Mascherano money to buy Mina
Barça secured the player's agreement to a future move to the Camp Nou two seasons ago, but must now complete a deal with his club, who are out to pocket a decent sum from the sale of the Colombian international.
Barcelona expect to be able to use the money from Javier Mascherano's expected switch to China (between seven and 10 million euros) on the purchase of Mina, who would initially be the fourth-choice centre-back in Ernesto Valvderde's squad, behind Gerard Piqué, Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen.
Barça's pursuit of Mina came about at the insistence of general manager Pep Segura, who believes he has the potential to establish himself as a long-term fixture in the Catalans' defence.
