Cristiano rediscovers goal scoring touch with stats ahead of 16/17
The player from Madeira has turned things around in a major way after a discreet start to the 2017/18 season scoring 30 in 32 matches.
Cristiano Ronaldo is back to what he does best...scoring goals. The Madeira born striker has found the net on 13 times in his past seven games in the Real Madrid white shirt and just failed to strike in the 2-2 draw away to Levante in early February. With an average of 0.93 goals per game with his 30 goals in 32 matches, the forward is just 12 goals away from his 16/17 tally of 42 goals in 46 games.
The start to the 2017/18 campaign was slow for the striker with the Portuguese international on target just one time in the first 12 games of the season. The turnaround has been spectacular from that point with a strike rate of 15 from 16 games.
Ahead of last season
Indeed his statistics in all competitions surpass those of last season at this stage. In the 2016/2017 campaign he had bagged 27 goals in 32 matches (19 LaLiga goals, two in the Champions League, four in the CWC and two in the Spanish Cup) compared to his total of 30 in all competitions in the current season.
With both Cristiano and Lionel Messi tied on five Ballon D'Or awards a-piece, both players are also neck-and-neck in the striking rankings with Messi one goal ahead of the Madrid player but having played eight more games than the player from Madeira who possesses a better goal per game ratio of 0.93 as opposed to Messi's 0.77 goals per match rating.
