Mourinho: De Boer fires back after Champions League exit
Frank de Boer's war of words with José Mourinho has continued after Manchester United's Champions League defeat to Sevilla on Tuesday.
Frank de Boer has continued his war of words with José Mourinho, slamming the Manchester United manager over the manner of his side's Champions League elimination at the hands of Sevilla.
On Monday, Mourinho had responded to criticism by De Boer over his handling of Marcus Rashford by branding the Dutchman the "worst manager in the history of the Premier League" after his brief, winless reign at Crystal Palace this season.
"He has spent nearly £1bn and his teams play like that"
But having seen a disappointing United exit Europe at the last-16 stage on Tuesday after losing 2-1 to Sevilla at Old Trafford, De Boer hit back at the Portuguese with a scathing assessment of the hosts' performance.
"Mourinho might say I'm the worst manager in Premier League history," De Boer said to beIN Sports, "but tonight he's a manager who has spent nearly £1 billion in his career and his teams play like that."
De Boer had said it's a "pity" Rashford working with Mou
De Boer had told BT Sport at the weekend that it was a "pity" that Rashford, 20, is not playing under a coach who has more patience with young talent.
"You want him to be given time," De Boer said. "He can make mistakes but Mourinho is not like that and if he has one or two not good games, he puts him out."
