Nacho was substituted through injury for the first time in his senior career during Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Las Palmas at the weekend and it has now been confirmed that the versatile defender suffered a thigh injury in the semitendinosus muscle.

Although Real Madrid have not put a timescale on Nacho’s recovery, AS columnist Dr José González has suggested the defender will be out of action for around three to four weeks.

That will rule the 28-year-old out of both legs of Real’s of Real’s Champions League tie against Juventus and Liga fixtures against Atlético, Málaga, Athletic and Leganés.

The main concern for Zinedine Zidane is Sergio Ramos’s availability for the second leg against Juventus next week, with the Real Madrid captain a yellow card away from suspension for the game in the Bernabéu.

Real’s medical staff are hopeful of Nacho fit and ready for the Clásico against Barcelona in Camp Nou on the weekend of May 5-6.

The defender’s injury was the first he has suffered in 16 years, when he was a youth player at the club.
