Simeone: "Everyone could see Gameiro was onside"
Atlético's coach wasn't happy with the refereeing at Anoeta: "Gameiro only had the keeper to beat; I'm not sure it was handball from Torres. Details, but they count..."
Diego Simeone faced the media in Anoeta after his Atlético side suffered their heaviest defeat of the season, losing 3-0 to Real Sociedad and leaving LaLiga on a plate for Barça. El Cholo acknowledged that La Real were the better side on the night and that his players lacked precision, but he could not hide his disappointment at the linesman's decision to raise his flag when Kevin Gameiro was clean through with just Rulli to beat.
Debatable decisions
How can you explain this 3-0 defeat?
Whenever we win our games, I give myself some credit but when it's the other way around, I give merit to our rivals. La Real found the spaces and routes to goal they were looking for and punished us. Gameiro was one-on-one with the keeper, I don't know when it was handball by Fernando... These are small details, but it ended 3-0 so how would you explain how you can find yourselves with just the keeper to beat twice? A few of us weren't on the ball today...
Gameiro was clearly onside...
The linesman didn't see it that way. Even those up in the stands could see that it wasn't offside.
Struggles on the road
Atlético's level seems to drop drastically away from home in the league...
In terms of results, yes, that's true; looking at it simply we have to take a good lonk at our away form, and be more alert and attentive because we are letting ourselves down on the road.
3-0 seems harsh punishment...
It was closer when we played Villarreal - and against Madrid, in Lisbon, our first half was poor but we improved in the second half. Tonight, we didn't put in a good first half - we improved, but not enough to get back into the game. La Real put in a good game, they were solid and deserved to beat us.
