Getting to Kiev: 36 hours on the road or 13 hours by plane from Madrid
As of today, the only direct flights to the Ukrainian capital from Spain are via Barcelona (605€). The alternatives involve stop-overs in Warsaw, Rome or Chisinau....
Kiev is located some 3,681 kilometres from Madrid and the question now for many Real Madrid fans is how to get to the Ukrainian final for the Champions League final on May 26th.
Travelling by car which is the most hassle free option to a point means crossing France, Germany and Poland and a rough estimate suggests that the average car would require 530 euro worth of fuel to make the return trip. Road tolls would also add a further 235 euros to the round trip which in a car shared by four people works out at 191 euro per passenger. This Madrid-Kiev (Kyiv) road trip would take roughly 36 hours to complete.
With just one daily scheduled flight connecting both capital cities flying on scheduled airlines involves making a stopover. As soon as Çakir blew the final whistle at the end of the Madrid-Bayern match ,on Tuesday, prices slowly escalated on all routes out of Barajas on the day preceding the final. Many Madrid fans may opt to use Barcelona's El Prat airport as a point of departure with the few remaining direct flights available from 650 euro).
It's anticipated that in the forthcoming days a large number of charter based airlines will begin to offer bespoke packages with match ticket included but for the early birds, anxious to lock their Kiev trip down it's a trawl via the web.
